Flamingo beach is one of the best beaches in the country
Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica, Flamingo Beach boasts the classic characteristics of a tropical beach paradise with soft white sand and crystal-clear blue waters.
Playa Flamingo gives you the best of both worlds.
The villa is close to all the activities you and your guests may want to do including world-class golfing, ecoadventures, local farmers markets, and incredible culinary experiences. But the best part is it’s still secluded enough that you don’t feel like you’re in an overcrowded tourist spot.
It is a top destination for water sports.
The local marina is the starting point for most of the ocean-going excursions in the area–including world-class fishing where you can find some of the best blue marlin and sail fishing in the world. There are also some world-renowned surfing spots like Roca Bruja in Tamarindo just a short boat or car ride away.

The house was somehow even more beautiful than the pictures. The architecture, furniture, outdoor and indoor spaces, gym, views, pool–all indescribable. Every room is special and beautifully decorated with local arts and artifacts.
[The staff] took amazing care of us. [They] made sure to accommodate food allergies and preferences at the delicious breakfasts, greeted us with cold towels when we returned home from outings, arranged activities, transfers, and reservations for us and even ordered takeout for us when [they] knew we were exhausted.
Villa Ocaso began with a feeling–but it was shaped by a life.
My name is Susan, and I am Costa Rican. I come from two very different worlds that have always lived inside me.
One is my root: Costa Rica–its traditions, its warmth, its way of gathering, cooking, celebrating, and slowing down. It’s the culture I grew up in, the values I carry with me, and the heritage I am committed to passing down to my children and the generations that follow.
The other world is luxury hospitality. I spent years working in the high-end hotel industry, including time at Four Seasons and other luxury properties throughout Costa Rica. I learned the discipline of service, the importance of details, and what true excellence looks like when hospitality is done at the highest level. I learned how luxury guests think, feel, and remember experiences.
But over time, something began to trouble me.
I watched people travel thousands of miles to my country, stay in beautiful hotels, enjoy impeccable service, and then leave without ever truly connecting to Costa Rica itself. They experienced comfort, but not culture. Luxury, but not meaning. They visited my country, yet never really "met" it.

Here is the story behind the villa
So Villa Ocaso was born from a desire to merge my two worlds–not just professionally, but personally.
I wanted to create a place that reflected how I actually live my life: where tradition and refinement coexist, where luxury does not erase culture, but elevates it. A place where service is exceptional, yet human. Where beauty has intention. Where guests feel cared for, but also deeply connected.
Every corner of Villa Ocaso is a tribute to Costa Rica. The art, the textures, the materials–nothing is accidental. Local craftsmanship and indigenous inspiration are woven into the design so that the home doesn’t just sit in Costa Rica, it belongs to it.
And culture here is not something you observe from afar. It’s something you experience.
Guests are invited to take part in moments that matter: tortilla-making passed down through generations, chocolate crafted from cacao with history behind it, meals prepared by a chef who honors Costa Rican flavors, cocktails inspired by the land itself. These experiences don’t happen on a schedule–they unfold naturally, the way life does here.
Villa Ocaso is not just a business to me.
It is a home with purpose. A place I built so my children can return to–again and again–and always feel connected to where they come from. A place where they will know their roots, understand their culture, and carry Costa Rica with them wherever life takes them.
To me, that is the deepest form of luxury: legacy.
The word Ocaso means sunset, a moment of transition, reflection, and beauty. It’s when the light softens, conversations slow, and presence becomes effortless.
That moment is what this home is built around.
